Travel for families

DO NOT BOOKDo not book flights or hotels until you have received instructions from your head coach.

Families book their own flights and hotels and choose where they stay.

Honolulu, Jan 16–18

Plan to arrive Fri, Jan 15 and fly home Tue, Jan 19. Families choose their own hotel from the tournament’s approved list. Estimated cost for one player and one parent, 4 nights: about $2,000 to $3,300.

Coaches’ hotel: Holiday Inn Express Waikiki. Families don’t have to stay there; it’s listed so you know where the coaches will be.

Reno, Apr 9–11

Plan to arrive Thu, Apr 8 and leave Mon, Apr 12. Families choose their own hotel through the tournament’s housing service. It's about a 9-hour drive, or a short flight. Estimated cost for one player and one parent, 4 nights: about $1,250 to $2,350.

Club travel policies
  • Families book their own flights and hotels and choose where they stay.
  • Coaches do not room or travel alone with athletes, per USA Volleyball SafeSport rules.
  • Athletes should not accept a spot on a team unless they can commit to attending all tournaments. If there is an extenuating circumstance, talk with Sue Doan before accepting a spot. There are no refunds for missed tournaments.

Post-season, if the team earns a bid

Jun 18–21: Girls Junior National Championship (11–13), Chicago, IL

Not included in the season fee. If 13 Timberline qualifies, additional club fees for post-season play are billed on May 15. Families cover their own travel.

DO NOT BOOKDo not book flights or hotels until you have received instructions from your head coach.

Schedules are subject to change. Events depend on Power League rankings, qualification, and tournament waitlists, so a team may move to a different event or drop one. Power League gyms are assigned by CEVA before each event. Coaches post updates to their team directly.

Practice days, times and gyms are set after tryouts. They depend on how many players come to tryouts, how many teams we can form, and how gym space is shared across the whole club. Your coach will confirm your team's schedule before Nov 29.

The season starts Sunday, Nov 29.

Post-season fees

If a team qualifies for post-season play (USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships), additional club fees are billed on May 15. At 13U this applies to 13 Timberline. Family travel to post-season events is separate.

Help paying

CEVA Athlete Success Fund. CEVA awards need-based scholarships of $500 to $1,500 toward club dues. Apply by Monday, Nov 30, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Your player must have a full CEVA membership (not the tryout membership) by that deadline. Awards are paid to the club starting in January 2027 and can't be used for tryout fees or deposits.

Fundraising. Club fundraising goes toward players' travel costs, not team fees.

CEVA
rules

Mt. Hood plays in CEVA, the Columbia Empire region of USA Volleyball. These rules come from CEVA and USA Volleyball, not the club.

Who can play 13U

Born on or after
July 1, 2013

Age groups go by birth date, not school grade. 13U teams compete in CEVA's 14s division for Power League, the Bid Tournament and Regionals. Younger players can try out and play up. Players born before July 1, 2013 play 14U or older. Not sure? Check the 2026–27 age chart.

CEVA membership

Tryout membership
$20
Junior player membership
$70

Every player at tryouts needs a membership. The tryout membership covers tryouts through Dec 31 and is applied to the full membership if she makes a team. Players need the full membership before practices and tournaments. Memberships are bought from CEVA, not the club, and are non-refundable.

Letter of Commitment

When you accept a team spot, you sign CEVA's Letter of Commitment. It commits your player to one club for the season. Signing can start on Nov 8, the first day 14U and younger tryouts are allowed in CEVA.

Quick
answers

How long is the season?

The season starts Sunday, Nov 29. Power League wraps on Apr 17, and teams that qualify play the CEVA Regional Championships on Apr 24–25. Post-season is in June: if 13 Timberline earns a national bid, it plays in Chicago on Jun 18–21.

How many tournaments will we play?

13 Timberline plays 9 to 11, depending on which events it qualifies for. 13 Meadows and 13 Zig Zag play 8 to 9.

Why do 13s play in the 14s division?

CEVA groups 13s and 14s together for Power League, the Bid Tournament and Regionals. Our 13U teams play against both ages all season.

What if my player isn't ready for a team?

Start with VTP, our Volleyball Training Program. It runs the same season as club at a much lower cost, and it's all reps, skills and drills. For athletes still developing fundamentals like an overhand serve and consistent passing, VTP is the recommended starting point. It has placed many athletes on club teams the following season. Learn about VTP.

Can my player try out for more than one team?

She tries out once for 13U. Coaches watch every player and place her on the team that fits her level.
